I recently started designing a new website for a creative coaching brand that wanted a digital presence full of warmth, approachability, and personality. The challenge? Finding a font that felt human and engaging without sacrificing readability or professionalism. That’s when I came across Study Buddy — a cute and playful handwriting font that promised to bring a personal touch to digital designs. I decided to test it in a hero section, paired with a clean sans serif for body text, and was immediately drawn to how it brought a sense of joy and intimacy to the layout.
Bringing Personality to Website Headers and Hero Sections
Study Buddy is clearly designed with charm in mind. Its soft curves, gentle bounce, and slight irregularities give it a hand-crafted feel that’s perfect for creative brands. I used it for the main headline on the coaching website’s landing page — “Unlock Your Creative Potential” — and placed it over a soft pastel background. The result was warm and inviting, and it immediately set the tone for the brand’s identity.
This font shines in hero sections, call-to-action buttons, and short promotional phrases. It’s not meant for long paragraphs or navigation menus, but as a display font for headlines and accent text, it works beautifully. I also tried it on a product landing page for a digital course, using it for the course title and key benefits. It gave the page a friendly, approachable vibe that matched the course’s nurturing tone.
Readability on Mobile and Responsive Layouts
One of the first things I tested was how Study Buddy performed on mobile devices. Since it’s a script font with connected letters and some decorative elements, I was concerned about legibility at smaller sizes. On desktop, it looked great at 48px and above, but on mobile, I found that anything below 32px started to lose clarity, especially on lower-resolution screens.
To optimize readability, I adjusted the letter spacing slightly and made sure the font was only used for short, impactful phrases rather than long-form content. I also made sure to pair it with a clean, highly legible sans serif font like Montserrat or Open Sans for supporting text, which helped maintain visual balance and improved the overall user experience.

Another project I used Study Buddy on was a digital brand kit for a small online boutique. The client wanted a cohesive look across their website, social media banners, and email headers. I used Study Buddy for the brand name and tagline across all platforms, and it gave the brand a consistent, personable feel.
It also worked well in logo design mockups. I created a simple logo using Study Buddy for the brand name and paired it with a minimalist icon. The font added a sense of authenticity and craftsmanship that resonated well with the boutique’s handmade product line.
For social media graphics and blog headers, Study Buddy added a touch of whimsy that helped the visuals stand out in feeds. It performed well over light and dark backgrounds, though I found it worked best with a subtle drop shadow or a light background overlay when placed over images.

Things to Keep in Mind When Using Study Buddy
While Study Buddy brings a lot of personality to the table, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. I wouldn’t recommend it for long blocks of text, form labels, or small navigation menus. It’s best used for decorative headings, short phrases, and branding elements where a human touch is desired.
Also, be sure to check the font’s webfont availability, file formats, and licensing before using it in client projects or commercial websites. Study Buddy comes in multiple styles and includes alternates and ligatures, which is great for customization. However, for web use, make sure you’re loading only the necessary styles to keep page load times fast.
If your project requires high accessibility standards, especially for users with visual impairments, Study Buddy may not be suitable for critical interface text. It’s best reserved for decorative and branding use where readability isn’t the top priority.
